Created by Coaching Advocates, The Lawyer Spot brings lawyers together for meaningful conversations, professional development, shared experiences and genuine connection.

WHY THE LAWYER SPOT?

Law gives us a lot.
But it can also ask a lot of us.

Lawyers spend their careers surrounded by people, yet it can sometimes be a surprisingly isolating profession.

Our professional relationships are often shaped by firms, matters, clients, hierarchy, business development and the demands of the day.

We wanted to create somewhere different. A community where lawyers can step outside their usual professional circles and connect as people.

Somewhere to exchange ideas. Learn from each other. Have the conversations we don’t always get to have at work. Build meaningful professional relationships. And sometimes simply enjoy being around interesting people who understand the world you work in.

That’s The Lawyer Spot.

NOT NETWORKING FOR NETWORKING'S SAKE

There are already many excellent professional associations and legal networks. We’re not trying to replicate them.

The Lawyer Spot is deliberately designed around community rather than contacts.

There are no referral targets. No expectation to pitch your services. No pressure to collect business cards.

Instead, we create opportunities for genuine relationships to develop naturally through shared experiences, thoughtful conversations, learning and contribution.

Because the most valuable professional relationships rarely begin with “What can you do for me?”

MORE THAN EVENTS

Membership of The Lawyer Spot is about being part of a community, not simply having another calendar of professional events.

Throughout the year, members might find themselves around a long table with lawyers they’d probably never otherwise meet, hearing from a thought-provoking speaker, taking part in a candid roundtable, joining a walk and breakfast, developing professionally, earning CPD, sharing their own experience or giving back to others.

Between gatherings, the community continues through member conversations, introductions, resources and opportunities to connect.

HOW THIS ALL STARTED

The Lawyer Spot began in Sydney with a small group of lawyers brought together by Coaching Advocates and a simple idea: to create more opportunities for genuine connection within the legal profession.

Over the past two years, our Founding Members have gathered, talked, shared ideas, learned together and helped shape what The Lawyer Spot could become.

In 2027, we’re taking the next step.

For the first time, we’ll open a limited number of memberships and welcome new members into our founding Sydney chapter.

As we grow, we’re committed to protecting what made The Lawyer Spot special in the first place:

The quality of the people.
The quality of the conversations.
And the feeling of belonging to something rather than simply attending something.

STARTING IN SYDNEY. GROWING THROUGH COMMUNITY.

Our founding chapter is in Sydney, but our ambition goes much further.

Over time, we want to establish Lawyer Spot chapters in other cities, creating local communities connected by a shared purpose, shared values and a wider network of lawyers.

We won’t expand simply for the sake of getting bigger. New chapters will grow where there is genuine interest, the right people and the opportunity to build something meaningful.

Today, it starts in Sydney. Tomorrow, we’d love to see Lawyer Spot tables in cities around the world.

WHO WE'D LIKE AROUND THE TABLE

The Lawyer Spot is for lawyers who are interested not only in what they can get from a professional community, but also in what they can bring to one.

You might work in private practice, in-house, government or another part of the profession. You might be an experienced leader or still building your career.

We’re less interested in titles than we are in people.

We’re looking for members who are:

Curious. Generous. Open-minded. Interested in others. Willing to share. Keen to learn.

People who will make the community better simply by being part of it.
