work with MAX
Max is a qualified barrister, senior lecturer, certified coach and experienced trainer.
After a successful career at the Bar in London, he moved into higher education as a university lecturer. In this role, he delivered lectures and workshops to aspiring lawyers and provided professional skills training to staff members and external delegates. He also provided coaching and mentoring to students to help them achieve their goals. Motivated by his passion for supporting others in their growth and his longstanding interest in personal development, Max subsequently retrained as a coach.
He now specialises in helping lawyers (and other busy professionals) to become the best version of themselves. By partnering with them to uncover their core values and true aspirations, he guides them towards a life that feels authentically aligned. Max’s ultimate mission is to empower his clients to live with greater purpose, joy, and balance. His coaching is enriched by his personal journey of establishing these qualities in his own life and through his understanding of what it is like to work in high-pressure environments.
As an Accredited Transformative Coach, Max facilitates lasting change by using questioning, insight, reflection, gentle challenge, and accountability to shift limiting beliefs. He believes that everyone has the answers within – it is just a matter of tapping into that ‘inner gold’! Max ensures his clients feel safe to show up authentically, without the need to wear any masks. His clients often comment on the calm, welcoming, and non-judgemental coaching space he creates.
Max is passionate about equality and employee welfare. When it comes to his training practice, he advocates for and educates on the importance of cultivating greater inclusivity and well-being within organisations, as well as the power of authentic and human-centered leadership.
Max lives with his husband and their rescue dog, Coal, on a farm in the South-East of England. When he is not working, he enjoys spending time in nature, comedy, attending retreats, listening to podcasts, and looking after his physical and mental health.
